The Development of Mobile Legends Through the Years
A lawsuit was filed against Moontoon before the game changed its name to Mobile Legends. Moontoon was sued by Riot Games for copyright infringement. As a result, the game was removed from Google Play in 2017. It was later re-released as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. According to the Central District Court of California, the lawsuit was dismissed for forum non-conveniens. As a result, MOONTON has remodeled its in-game heroes and enhanced the gameplay.
With over 1 billion downloads, Mobile Legends has become a popular and widely played MOBA. Additionally, it has a worldwide player count that peaks at 100 million per month. In 2021, MLBB reached another milestone by grossing US$1 billion, making it the world's biggest MOBA.
A real-time battle lasts an average of 10 minutes between two teams of five players. Currently, MLBB has introduced 116 heroes and at least five game modes that players can enjoy. MLBB relies on skills, strategy, and luck with a random team, just like other MOBAs. Moontoon entered the eSports scene through several regional tournaments called Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL).
The MPL is currently available to players who form teams of five plus one or two coaches. Mobile Legends World Championships are held in Latin America, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Fifteen countries, including the USA, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Russia have participated in this tournament so far. As part of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, MLBB will be the first MOBA to participate in the eSports event.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang: Why Is It So Popular?
Initially, MLBB only had 10 heroes, but the latest patch added 116. Each hero's story is intertwined and takes place in the Land of Dawn, a fantastical world. Each region has its history, factions, fables, and characters of different races. Using this setting, Moontoon introduces new characters and interesting plot lines.
In response to the game's exponential growth in popularity, Moontoon released several heroes based on real historical figures. Lapu Lapu, for example, is a well-known historical figure in the Philippines. It is also Minsitthar from Myanmar’s Kyansittha. Additionally, one cannot miss Badang from Malaysian folklore, Gatotkaca from Mahabharata, and Kadita from Indonesian Nyai Roro Kidul. MLBB's fame and success can be attributed to its immersive narrative and intertwined storylines.
It is not the only thing that makes Mobile Legends intriguing. The game’s company constantly releases patch updates and new heroes. In order to enhance the gaming experience, Moontoon has also released multiple skin series for current and upcoming heroes. Each series has an underlying story separate from its central lore. Heroes from across the Land of Dawn are grouped into superheroes and supervillains squads, based on comic books.
Games: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang SEASONAL RANK TOURNAMENTS & MORE
Aside from the constant releases of skins and new heroes, Mobile Legends also has seasonal in-game rank matches. The average match lasts about three months, with players competing against each other around the world. Players who reach at least Master rank can obtain season-exclusive skins and other exciting rewards. A higher tier means better rewards, of course.
With Moontoon's in-game streaming service, gamers can follow their favorite players and watch them compete in live matches, which intensifies the excitement. Streamers can also receive in-game items from their fans, which can be used to purchase skins, emojis, and other cool items. As a result, these streamers can convert their in-game gifts into cash once they reach a certain fan base.
Moontoon also launched collaborations and spinoffs following the enormous success of Mobile Legend: Bang Bang. These collaborations have incorporated more exciting stories and customized epic skins that gamers can purchase over the years. Every week, Moonton releases new heroes, skins, game modes, battle emojis, and eSports events.
In Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, players keep returning for the regular game patches and improvements. Throughout the years, Moontoon's dedication to providing a better MOBA gaming experience has kept gamers hooked on this game.
